Rioja, SpainTempranillo Blanco is a native white variety of DOCa Rioja. It is exclusive to this appellation and is grown in very small quantities. Dinastia Vivanco is pioneering its use with this wine.
Vineyards:
Produced from various estate-owned vineyard sites throughout Rioja. The Viura and Malvasia are grown in Rioja Alta, while the Tempranillo Blanco is found in the Sierra Carbonera foothills in Rioja Baja. While the soils vary, they are mostly of alluvial and marl origin. The vines are trained using the bush and wire methods at a density of 2600-3000 vines/hectare.
Technical Data:
- Residual Sugar: 3.8 grams/liter
- Acidity: 6.3 grams/liter
- Dry Extract: 23.0 grams/liter
Winemaking:
Hand-harvested in mid-September, the grapes were transported to the cellar in small crates. The crates were stored in cooling chambers for 36 hours prior to selection via use of a sorting table. Each variety was vinified separately in stainless steel to preserve the maximum fruit expression. Whole grapes underwent a pre-fermentative cold-maceration for 10-12 hours. The resulting free run juice fermented at 12-15°C. The wine stayed in contact with the fine lees for 4 months before blending.
Tasting Notes:
On the nose, this wine is expressive with intense aromas of green apple, citrus and white peach. The bouquet is accented by subtle grassy notes and delicate florals. Fresh, crisp taste of tropical fruit and citrus flavors with a well-balanced acidity.
Food Pairings:
Serve with essentially all seafood and vegetable-based dishes.
